BIO

Jan received the Bc. (BS) and Mgr. (MS) degrees at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague in 2007 and 2011. He got Ph.D. at the Faculty of electrical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague in 2019

Jan joined the Research and Development Centre for Mobile Applications (RDC) in 2008 as a Junior member and stayed an active member until the center was disbanded.

Jan worked as a technical assistant at The Institute of Photonics and Electronics (IPE), Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic from 2008 to 2012.

Jan received the IBM GreatMinds student internship and spent 6 months in IBM Research - Zurich in the year 2012. Consecutively, he was awarded the IBM Fellowship Award for the school year 2013/2014. To continue the successful cooperation with IBM Research - Zurich, Jan spent additional 6 months as an intern there in 2014. The IBM Fellowship Award was granted to Jan also for the upcoming school year 2014/2015.

After working for Electrolux in the years 2016-2024 at the positions of cybersecurity engineer, cybersecurity architect and senior cybersecurity architect Jan decided to return to academia in October 2025.

RESEARCH

Jan's main interest is security in its various forms. His research focus spanned from security of VoIP, secure storage for cloud services, secure data deduplication, security of IoT devices, cloud ecosystems, mobile ecosystems and recently security of AI systems.
